On July 2-6, the Civic Education Lecturers Association organized summer school in Batumi. 25 graduates of the Democracy and Citizenship university course from the universities of Tbilisi, Gori, Kutaisi, Zugdidi, Sokhumi and Batumi participated in the summer school.
The summer school lasted for five days, during which participants with their trainers discussed the topics such as: Citizen Participation in Local Self-Governance, the Problems of the Local Self-Government, Civil, Political, Social, Economic and Cultural rights, Importance of Volunteering, Gender Equality in Georgia – achievements and challenges. Participants also discussed the strategies of effective communication and planning action projects.
The trainers of the summer school were visiting professors and the members of the Association.
The conference was held by the Civic Education Lecturers Association (CELA) with financial support of USAID in the framework of the project Strengthening Electoral Processes (SEP), implemented by the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES).
