On June 30, the Civic Education Lecturers Association and Ilia State University has signed the Memorandum of Understanding. Tamar Karaia, an executive director of CELA and Giga Zedania, the rector of Iliauni signed the document. The meeting was attended by the dean of the Faculty of Sciences and Arts, member of the administration of Iliauni and the representatives of IFES Georgia.
According to the agreement, Ilia State University undertook an obligation to involve “Democracy and Citizenship” university course in their curriculums. For its part, CELA will take care of retraining of the civic education lecturers, preparing training materials and involving students in different activities.
The event was made possible with the financial support of USAID in the framework of the project Strengthening Electoral Processes (SEP) implemented by the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES).
