Workshop on Civic engagement and Advocacy

One of the important strategies in the public awareness-raising process is involvement of young people in peer education. To this intent, on December 21, 2014, the Civic Education Lecturers Association organized a workshop on civic engagement and advocacy.

The workshop welcomed students of the Democracy and Citizenship course from different universities and all- over Georgia. Students were selected based on their motivation and experience in civic activities.

The participants at the examples of successful social movements discussed strategies of civic engagement, as well as methods of advocacy campaign. After that, in the groups, they developed action plans for peer education and later presented them to others.

Each action plan aims to conduct various activities in Georgian university towns and use students in peer education and the public awareness-raising processes.

The workshop was made possible with the support of the American people through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in the framework of the project Strengthening Electoral Processes (SEP), implemented by the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES).
