A reading corner was opened for students with disabilities at TSU Library

On December 4, a reading corner was opened for students with disabilities (visually impaired/blind) at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University library.

The reading corner in Shota Rustaveli reading hall is equipped with special computers, printers, CDs and literature.

In addition, the Democracy and Citizenship university course students, on their own initiative, at TSU recording studio recorded audio version of a textbook “Democracy and Citizenship”. It was published with the support of IFES in audio CD format. The CDs were distributed to schools for visually impaired/the blind and also housed in the libraries. The textbook “Democracy and Citizenship” was also published in Braille.

In scope of the course, students, considering all the relevant standards, used TSU domain to create a special website - “Students for the integration of visually impaired/the blind” (http://visuallyimpaireds.tsu.ge). The reading corner for visually impaired/blind students and the website “Students for the integration of visually impaired/the blind” was created thanks to the grant “Integration of visually impaired/blind students and creation of adapted environment” (Open Society Foundation), which was obtained by the students of the university course “Democracy and Citizenship”.
