Call for Articles for the 13th Issue of “CIVICUS”

Online edition "CIVICUS" is issued once in two months under the auspices of Civic Education Lecturers Association (CELA). Articles on the issues of democracy and civic participation are published in the journal. Each issue is dedicated to the one particular topic.

In the spring of 2017, the Parliament of Georgia and the State Constitutional Commission are going to approve the new edition of our country’s Constitution. The approval process will be followed by the public discussion on the constitutional issues. The editorial group of “CIVICUS” wants to offer students a discussion platform on the constitution. Therefore, the topic of the thirteenth issue will be the constitution and constitutional arrangement. For the next edition of “CIVICUS” we are looking for articles on the following topics (problems should be discussed in the context of Georgia):

  • Social contract theories and their importance
  • The constitutional heritage of Georgia
  • Republic vs. Monarchy
  • Presidential Governance vs. Parliamentary Regime
  • Single-mandate parliament vs bilateral parliament
  • Federalism vs Unitarism
  • The electoral system (barrier, prohibition of blocks, election rule)
  • Constitution and human rights
  • Constitution and social issue
  • Constitution and separatist regions
  • Comparative analysis of the Constitution of Georgia
  • Other

In order to be considered, please submit your articles (minimum of 1 and maximum of 5 pages) in MS Word (.doc) format, font Acad Nusx Geo, font size 12, line spacing 1.15 by May 152017 to the following email: info@cela.geThe e-mail subject line should read: “CIVICUS 13”. Articles should be analytical and will be considered if not published in other Georgian edition.

The articles will be revised by three appraisers independently from each other according to the following criteria:

  • Structure of the article
  • Content of the topic
  • Argumentation
  • Originality
  • General Education

The scores will be summarized and the list of winners will be announced.

When submitting the article please write your name and surname as the document name and write it also at the end of the article with the name of your university, telephone number and e-mail.

The “CIVICUS” editorial board will review the received articles and authors of selected abstracts will be notified no later than May 25, 2017.

Selected articles will be published on the 13th edition of “CIVICUS” and the authors will receive the royalty.
